None of this would matter much if this movie wasn't anchored by a star turn, and Streep delivers yet another in a career full of them.. Mamma Mia! delivers exactly what one can reasonably expect from it. It's a faithful adaptation of the stage play of the same name but, more importantly, it's a repository for ABBA songs.. The legal definition of torture has been much aired in recent years, and I take Mamma Mia! to be a useful contribution to that debate.. This isn't a movie. It's a vacation.. Ev...
